Return/Exchange Policy

Returns, replacements & our 30-day healthy plant guarantee

Every Dahing plant is guaranteed healthy for 30 days. If your plant arrives damaged, shows up with pests, or goes downhill fast from something that isn't your care, we'll replace it or refund it. And after 30 days, we're still here. You can reach out for free care advice for as long as you own the plant. That's the promise.

Below is exactly what's covered, what isn't, and how to make a claim in about five minutes.

First, take a breath. This is probably normal.

Your plant spent years growing before it reached your door. It's survived rough weather and seasons outdoors, and it's tougher than it looks. So a bit of drama on arrival is almost always just transplant shock; your plant isn't sick. All of these are normal:

  • Dropping leaves after delivery. Some plants shed a lot when they move homes, especially Ficus and Dracaena Marginata. New leaves grow back.

  • Splits in a Bird of Paradise leaf, or holes in a Monstera. That's simply how those plants grow.

  • A few yellow leaves, or one small broken branch. Cosmetic, and normal after a trip in a box or a van.

  • Tiny bugs like centipedes or millipedes in the soil. They live in healthy soil naturally and won't hurt your plant.

If any of that has you worried, get in touch. We're happy to talk you through it, no claim needed.

What the 30-day guarantee covers

We'll replace or refund your plant if:

  • It arrives with severe damage, like a snapped stem or trunk, major breakage, or heat or cold damage.

  • It arrives with pests such as mealybugs or spider mites, reported within 30 days.

  • It's the wrong plant (for tagged plants).

  • It goes into rapid decline from an unknown cause within 30 days, even with proper care.

To approve any claim, we need two simple things from you:

  1. Photos. A shot of the whole plant, plus close-ups of the problem. We can't approve a replacement or refund without them, so this is the big one.

  2. Timing. Tell us about delivery damage within 7 days, and pests or a sudden decline within 30 days.

What isn't covered

  • Normal shedding and leaf drop. This includes heavier leaf loss during shedding season (very normal for Ficus-type plants), yellowing on a few leaves, and one small broken branch.

  • Natural features of the plant, like Bird of Paradise splits and Monstera holes.

  • Minor cosmetic wear, such as small bruises, scratches, or torn leaves on delicate plants.

  • A change of heart. If the plant is healthy but not quite what you pictured, we can still swap it, but a 30% labor fee on the original plant applies, plus the redelivery cost for the new one.

  • Repotted plants. Once a plant is in your own pot, we can no longer replace it, so keep it in its original pot and packaging until you're sure it's a keeper.

  • Anything reported after the window: damage after 7 days, or pests or decline after 30 days. Past 30 days, we can't tell where pests came from, so we can't replace the plant. We're always glad to help with care advice, though.

  • Weather damage or a missing package on shipped orders. Those go through UPS (see below).

How to ask for a replacement or refund

It's quick:

  1. Take photos of the whole plant and a close-up of the issue.

  2. Contact us inside the window: 7 days for delivery damage, 30 days for pests or decline.

  3. Keep the plant in its original pot and packaging.

  4. Email or call us. We'll look at your photos and sort it out fast.

Local delivery vs. shipped orders

Most of this policy works the same either way. Here's what's different.

If you're on a local delivery (NYC and Metro NJ) and you missed your delivery or your order came up short, just get in touch, and we'll make it right.

If your order shipped with UPS and it was damaged by weather in transit or the package went missing, file a claim with UPS first, then let us know so we can help you follow up.

Quick answers

It's shedding a lot of leaves. Is it dying? Almost certainly not. Leaf drop after a move is normal shock, especially for Ficus and Dracaena Marginata, and new growth follows. Message us, and we'll give you care tips.

It lost a big chunk of leaves fast. Is that a refund? On its own, usually not. Sudden leaf loss is normally shedding or shock, especially in shedding season. But if it comes with real damage or pests within 30 days, send us photos, and we'll take a look.

My Bird of Paradise has splits, or my Monstera has holes. That's simply how those plants grow. Nothing's wrong.

There are little bugs in the soil. Centipedes and millipedes live in soil naturally and are harmless. Nothing to treat.

I didn't get my whole order. Get in touch, and we'll fix it.

Where's my delivery? Local orders: get in touch. Shipped orders: track it with UPS, or contact UPS about a missing package.

I don't want a replacement, I just need help keeping it alive. That's exactly what we're here for. Reach out anytime for free plant care advice, even years down the line.
